Land Surveyor Associates are Land Surveyors from other provinces in Canada. Land Surveyor Associates must pass the BCLS Professional Exams prior to becoming a BC Land Surveyor.

Land Surveyors in Training (Articled Pupils) are people who are registered under articles with the Association and are undergoing the required period of practical and professional training toward membership as a British Columbia Land Surveyor. Land Surveyor in Training must pass the BCLS Professional Exams prior to becoming a BC Land Surveyor.

Survey Students are people who are employed by a BCLS member or are in school and have not obtained a Certificate of Completion from the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS). Once they have obtained a Certificate of Completion from the CBEPS they can apply to become a Land Surveyor in Training and start their articles.
